The Software Update
A tech support agent once received a panicked call from a user whose vintage computer terminal had suddenly started printing out raw code instead of the usual user interface. "Quick, install the latest security patch!" the user screamed. The agent replied: "I can't. The security patch is exactly what broke your machine. It was designed to overwrite your original operating system so you'd forget how to use the keyboard without paying us a subscription fee."
